FCC Filing Help

Some notes to help you prepare your comments to the FCC:

It is important that your comments reflect your individual concerns, and that they be written in your own style.

Do not include anything in your comments that you would consider to be proprietary information, i.e. that you would not want your competitors or business partners to know.

Remember that your comments will become part of the public record as soon as you file them.

Comments submitted to the FCC are generally posted on their Web site within a few days.

You can visit the FCC Electronic Comment Filing System (ECFS) web site to view other comments that have already been filed in this proceeding, at: http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/ecfs/comsrch_v2.cgi   In the “Proceeding” field, enter 04-186.

You will see some “brief comments” that will usually show up as one or two sentences in plain text. These are informal comments that have been submitted by members of the public using the Commission’s “ECFS Express” system.

You will also see some “Ex Parte” notices and presentations given by others, including Shure. You can read these to get the flavor of what has happened in this proceeding so far.

You will notice that legal firms often represent larger companies. Do not worry, the FCC will pay just as much attention to your well written and presented comments as they will to those signed by a law firm. They are primarily interested in authentic input from the public.

If you will be submitting electronically, it is a good idea to convert your document to PDF before uploading it. If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat software, we can convert it for you.  Also, give your file a descriptive name like “myname_comments_et_04_186.pdf”
