Phonograph Cartridge/Stylus Cross Reference Chart

Below is a complete list of current Shure phonograph cartridges and their corresponding replacement styli. Cartridge models not listed were most likely manufactured on behalf of a turntable manufacturer. Please check with the turntable manufacturer for product and replacement information.

Styli for discontinued models may still be available. See our Discontinued Phono Cartridge and Stylus Cross Reference Chart. Styli still available from Shure may be ordered/purchased thru any authorized Shure dealer.

Many specialty hi-fi or electronics stores often have stock of replacement styli long after Shure has run out. If the replacement stylus listed is one that is no longer available from Shure, and you are unable to find the model from a specialty hi-fi or electronics store, a new cartridge and stylus model will need to be purchased.

Shure cannot recommend a cartridge for specific turntable, as we don't have specifications for them. However, 95% of the time, unless the turntable is a very inexpensive one, the cartridge mount will be one of the following two types:

  1. Standard Mount (by far the most common)
Two screws, half an inch apart, thread through the cartridge body to secure it to the headshell, which then plugs into the tone arm.
  2. P-mount
The four prongs at the back of the cartridge plug directly into the tone arm. A screw goes through the side of the cartridge at the back, to hold it in place on the tone arm.
