Introduction

McDonald's New Zealand (NZ) Head Office serves as the central hub for overseeing and managing the renowned fast-food chain's operations throughout the country. Challenge

There are several requirements presented for their audio upgrade project for the large boardroom. The first requirement was to achieve high-quality audio, ensuring clear and crisp sound for meetings and conferences held at their boardroom. Additionally, they desired a solution that would allow all participants to be seen, promoting effective communication and collaboration during virtual meetings. 

Seamless integration with their existing Zoom call and Barco systems was another crucial requirement. The new audio solution needed to seamlessly work with these existing technologies, providing a smooth and integrated user experience. Furthermore, there is an emphasis on the need for easy control over video conferencing and audio settings. The solution should provide user-friendly controls for adjusting audio levels and managing video conferences, facilitating smooth operations during meetings. 

Solution

Support by Shure and integration partner Active Vision, the largest boardroom at McDonald’s New Zealand office was fitted with Shure MXA920 Ceiling Array Microphone. With the latest certification, Shure MXA920 integrates seamlessly with Q-SYS, a cloud-manageable audio, video, and control platform, for easier installation and management. 

The boardroom has deployed a sophisticated camera tracking to display who is talking at any given point. There are six strategically placed camera positions in the room that can activate rapidly and with great precision. These cameras work in tandem with the MXA920's IntelliMix DSP to ensure that the correct person is displayed on the screen, allowing for smoother and more effective communication during conferences. By accurately tracking the speaker, this camera system eliminates the need for manual camera adjustments or the risk of missing important visual cues during discussions. It enables participants to focus on the conversation without worrying about technical issues, creating a more natural and engaging conference experience.
