<h2>What are the characteristics of the Beta 57A?</h2>

<p>It has a tailored frequency response provides warmth and presence and maintains a true supercardioid pattern throughout its frequency range. This insures high gain-before-feedback, maximum isolation from other sound sources, and minimum off–axis tone coloration. The hardened steel mesh grille facilitates use of proximity effect as well as resisisting wear and abuse.</p>

<h2>Beta 181 Applications</h2>

<p>This Beta 181 is a multipurpose instrument microphone and can be used on a wide variety of applications including guitars, bass and drums (overheads and snares). A total of four different capsules (Cardioid, Supercardioid, Bi-directional, Omni-directional) are available, allowing you to interchange them according to application.</p>

<h2>Interchangable Capsule Options</h2>

<p>The RPM181/C is a cardioid condenser capsule for the Beta 181.&nbsp;The RPM181/S is a super cardioid condenser capsule for the Beta 181.&nbsp;The RPM181/BI&nbsp;is a bi-directional condenser capsule for the Beta 181.&nbsp;The RPM181/O is a omni directional condenser capsule for the Beta 181.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Applications for the different capsules&nbsp;</h2>

<p>The cardioid capsule is best suited to overheads, piano and acoustic instruments. You can also use the cardioid capsule for M/S stereo micing (in conjunction with another microphone with a bi-directional capsule). &nbsp;The supercardioid capsule is best suited to snare, toms, acoustic instruments and other forms of close distance micing. The omni-directional capsule could be used for choirs, orchestras and ambient recording applications. Lastly, the Bi-directional capsule can be used for mono overheads, or for the recording of two instruments simultaneously on one channel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Beta 181 can be purchased with any one of the four mic capsules available. You&#39;ll then need to buy any additional capsules you want seperately. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Beta 98AMP/C provides a smooth and natural sound, and features an integrated XLR preamplifier with a flexible gooseneck.</p>

<h2>What is the difference between the Beta 98AMP/C and the other versions of the Beta 98?</h2>

<p>The Beta 98AMP/C is a cardioid condenser instrument microphone and comes complete with an integrated preamplifier and the A75M universal drum mount. None of the other versions of the Beta 98 contain an integrated preamplifier. The Beta 98AMP/C has a wider dynamic range with a SPL level 7dB higher than Beta 98AD/C and the Beta 98A/C. The Beta 98AD/C is for the same applications and instead contains an A98D drum mount which features a flexible gooseneck. The Beta 98S & Beta 98D/S will continue to be available and have a supercardioid polar pattern. </p>

<p>Please note - any Beta drum microphone featuring the letter 'A' following the model number contains a new capsule and as a result you can expect a more natural high frequency response.</p>

<h2>What is the SM57 + X2u best suited to?</h2>

<p>The SM57 is a popular instrument microphone and commonly used for miking guitar and bass amps, drums and saxophones. Combined with the X2u, it can be easily connected directly to a computer without the need for any additional hardware. This would make it ideal for home recording studios.</p>

<h2>Will it work with my computer?</h2>

<p>The X2u is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2000, 7, 8, 10 and Mac OS X (10.1 or later). It features a built in headphone jack so that you can monitor the sound without the need for an additional sound card. It also includes an integrated pre-amp with mic gain control which allows you to control the signal strength.</p>

<h2>And what about latency?</h2>

<p>Latency can be described as the time taken between initiating a request in the computer and receiving the answer. You can expect zero latency monitoring with the X2U.&nbsp;Zero-latency monitoring means real-time playback and multi-tracking without delay and 16-bit/48 kHz sample rate provides better-than-CD-quality audio.</p>

<p>With Monitor Mix Control (which is featured on the X2U) you can blend the mic signal and audio playback as you desire.</p>

<h2>What if I need Phantom Power to use the X2U with my other microphones in the future?</h2>

<p>The X2U is equipped with Phantom Power so you can also use your favourite condensers together with the X2U. Any XLR mic can be plugged directly into your computer using the X2U.</p>
