all new updates to the stem ecosystem

In the months since we launched the groundbreaking 2.5 firmware update for the Stem Ecosystem, the Stem team hasn’t gotten a moment’s rest in their mission to further streamline and improve the ecosystem’s user interface for customers and integrators alike. We are excited to announce that an additional three firmware updates have been released that have greatly improved the customer experience while operating the Stem Ecosystem!

Firmware Update 2.6: An All-New View For Stem’s RoomDesign Tool

While utilizing the RoomDesign tool, users might have noticed that the software provided audio pickup zones without the corresponding option to observe speaker coverage areas. With Stem firmware update 2.6, this has been rectified with an all-new Speaker Coverage View, which allows users to easily switch back and forth from the default microphone pickup zone to speaker coverage with the click of a button.

In addition to the new view, the default device icons have been updated and Stem Speaker has been added to the list of available devices. To sum it up, the RoomDesign tool is now more useful than ever, letting users design their ideal conference audio ecosystem that ensures every voice on a call is heard, no matter the size or configuration of the room.

Mute-Sync Functionality With Leading Video Conferencing Platforms

Firmware 2.6 further brings improved mute sync for Microsoft Teams and other conferencing codecs, as well as on-screen volume/mute controls to Stem Control and Stem apps for Android and iOS.

Firmware Update 2.7: Local Network Functionality

Link local functionality

Stem Ecosystem’s new Link Local Functionality enables audio devices to work on an isolated network without a DHCP server. When using isolated network setups, the Stem Ecosystem devices will self-assign a link-local IP address and are able to work as a system with just a PoE switch. Operation in Manual IP mode is also improved; you no longer need a DHCP server to assign IP addresses manually.

This update is for users and organizations that prefer to keep AV systems off the corporate or organizational network. IT teams and installers no longer need to worry about manually assigning each device a specified IP address, saving them hours of work and creating a more streamlined installation process.

Firmware Update 2.8: Stem API For Third-Party Device Control And Monitoring

New Stem API

The new API allows control and monitoring of Stem devices through third-party hardware and software. Customers can leverage the API to control volume and mute functions, monitor device and system status, audio usage, and query the system for key information like serial numbers and room names.

While Stem has control and monitoring functions built into the ecosystem platform, the API allows you to monitor Stem devices alongside other manufacturer assets in a room, including displays, projectors, lights, blinds, etc., all through a single pane of glass.

Want to check if your devices need an update?

To check what firmware your devices are currently running on, you can use a device’s IP address and access the Stem Ecosystem platform, available for iOS, Android, and via the HTML version. Once on the Stem Ecosystem platform, you can scroll to the bottom and see what firmware version your device is running. If you don’t already have automatic firmware updates enabled you can update your firmware by going to SETTINGS > FIRMWARE UPDATES > CHECK FOR UPDATES and if an update is available then it will search for one and if one is found, it will ask you if you want to install it now.
