NAMM 2017 Awards Roundup
At this year's NAMM Show, there was an energy that kicked an already-kinetic event up a notch or two. Attendance was at an all-time high, with well over 100,000 registrants converging at the Anaheim Convention Center for the music merchandising tour-de-force. In a huge show that can be as exhausting as it is thrilling, there was a uniquely positive vibe in the air. This was my third 'winter' NAMM and it was, by far, the best yet.
What We Won
This year, several Shure products stole the award spotlight. The KSM8 Dualdyne dual-diaphragm dynamic vocal microphone picked up a Music & Sound Award for Best New Cabled Microphone, the Audio Media International's Gear of the Year Award, and was named a finalist for the SXSW Interactive Innovation Award. The revolutionary KSE1500 Electrostatic Earphone System garnered attention, too.
KSM8 and KSE1500 joined established Shure products in ProSoundWeb and Live Sound International's Eighth Annual Reader's Choice Awards. Over 25,000 votes were cast this year with Shure emerging as the winner in six categories. We took home awards for KSM8 in the Dynamic Microphone category, KSE1500 in the Headphones category, SE846 Sound Isolating™ Earphones in the In-Ear Monitor/Ear Pieces category, MV88 in the Condenser Microphone category, PSM1000 in the In-Ear Monitor System category and ULX-D in the Wireless Microphone category.
MOTIV™was chosen as the Best Teaching Tool for Classroom Technology in the annual School Band and Orchestra's Tools for Schools awards. This award is decided by music educators, who reflect on what products are most relevant to music classes everywhere.
Even our newest product offering at NAMM, the GLX-D Advanced Wireless System, was recognized by Church Production Magazine as one of the Top 5 Products for Churches from NAMM.
The NAMM Show culminates each year in the presentation of the TEC Awards. Considered the "Oscars" of the pro audio and sound recording industry, award winners are recognized for their achievements in creativity and technical innovation. This year, we were honored to receive the Outstanding Technical Achievement award for Microphones in Sound Reinforcement for the KSM8.
Best of All
For us at Shure, NAMM is a great time to meet up with old friends and make thousands of new ones. We gave away lots of t-shirts and buttons and got to show off our vast product line. This year, for the first time, we hosted an artist photo booth; fans didn't have to rush to get selfies with their favorite artists. Instead, they got professional photos with Jesses Hughes from Eagles of Death Metal, Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society, members of Pierce the Veil, Walk the Moon, Randy Blythe from Lamb of God and Juanes.
Thanks to everyone who made Booth #6540 a destination at this year's show! You inspire us to fulfill Mr. Shure's legacy of exceptional sound quality, durability and technical innovation.
