Enhanced Audio Quality Transforms Javeriana University’s Simulation Center with Shure Microflex Advance & Centraverse
Customer Profile
The Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, established in 1623, is a prestigious private university located in Bogotá and Cali, Colombia. For five consecutive years (2018-2022), it was ranked as the number one university in Colombia by Times Higher Education and placed 13th in Latin America in the 2023 QS University Rankings.
Challenge
The campus in Bogotá has a Medical Simulation Center designed to train future health professionals. Before this project, the Simulation Center used a combination of different technologies from various brands, leading to complex wiring and inefficient setups. This did not meet the students' needs for seamless interaction with technology and academic programs. The university recognized that implementing advanced technology was crucial to differentiate itself and reach a broader market of fully-trained health professionals. They needed a robust and versatile audio solution to enhance sound quality and precision in the Simulation Center, improving the overall learning experience for both students and professors.

Solution
Shure’s products chosen by Javeriana University, with the support of local system integrator Integración AV, were the Microflex Advance MXA710 Linear Array Microphone, in combination with Centraverse wired microphones. One of the key features of this project was the peace of mind for the technical team due to the post-sale warranty, implementation support, and the scalability for future technological growth. These products were selected to create a seamless and highly efficient audio environment, supporting dynamic teaching and training scenarios in the Medical Simulation Center. This setup allowed flexibility to adapt to various teaching configurations without the need for frequent adjustments.
Advantages
By implementing Shure's advanced audio technologies, Universidad Javeriana significantly improved its medical simulation center. The new setup allows for clearer communication, enhances the realism of training scenarios, and provides confidence in the learning process for both instructors and students.
Besides the positive impact of the technological update, this project was also the winner of the AVI CALA AWARDS 2024, the most important AV project recognition in Latin America. The technology's integration has made the simulation center a more dynamic, efficient, and effective educational environment, ready to meet current and future needs.
"The first difference I noticed between the old and new simulation centers is the incredible technology. We are almost in real-time with what we usually do in the hospital daily." Maria Fernandez Sanchez, Instructor at Universidad Javeriana
