BMI Partners with Taylor Guitars and Shure for Storytelling Social Media Series “My #1 Moment”

BMI Songwriters Michael Hardy, Devin Dawson, Russell Dickerson and more to virtually perform their first chart toppers with the help of Taylor and Shure

Nashville, Tenn. (July 8th, 2020) – Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI)Taylor Guitars and Shure are pleased to announce a collaborative new social media video series, “My #1 Moment,” capturing intimate versions of BMI songwriters performing their first Number One song at home. Debuting on Taylor Guitar’s Instagram channel on July 8th, the weekly series features songwriters Michael Hardy, Devin Dawson, Russell Dickerson and more, sharing the stories behind the songs that took them to the top of the Country charts for the very first time.

In an uncertain time, where music is more important than ever, the “My #1 Moment” series will give fans a glimpse behind the curtain with the creators that bring us our favorite hit songs. Since 2018, BMI has partnered with Taylor Guitars to honor a writer’s first number one with a brand-new guitar. Recorded using a Shure MV88+ Video Kit and played on the writer’s commemorative Taylor 201e Deluxe guitar, the intimate, acoustic performance will offer viewers a unique opportunity to hear these songs from the songwriters who brought them to life.

“We love building guitars that serve as inspirational tools for writing songs,” says Tim Godwin, Taylor’s Director of Artist and Entertainment Relations. “We have been working with BMI for a few years, and this campaign feels like a natural extension of our partnership and an excellent way to honor these songwriters. A life-changing moment, a writer’s first Number One song marks an important milestone in every hit writer's career. Unique to the Music Row community, each chart-topping song is honored by a BMI-hosted celebration to highlight this special achievement. Typically attended by music industry executives, fellow songwriters, and publishers, these events are opportunities for writers to be acknowledged by their peers. Nashville is the only music community in the world to celebrate the writers behind each hit song in such a public way. 

“My #1 Moment” will kick off with Michael Hardy on July 8th on Instagram with a new episode following each Wednesday.
