Known Issues
- Transmitters overestimate temporarily or take longer to estimate battery time remaining
- MXWAPXD2 UI not reporting the same battery time remaining compared to transmitters
- MXWAPXD2 UI Lights settings toggle switches are not functional
- Sometimes MXWAPXD2 UI rejects the correct passphrase
- Transmitter does not clear linked APXD2 name during interrupted mic linking (when transmitter is removed during linking process)
- When updating to this firmware, transmitters will lose their linking status and need to be re-linked
Notes
- User Guide
- Command Strings
- Learn more about connecting via web browser in our FAQ
Compatibility
- To operate this version of MXW neXt with other Shure networked systems, see the following list of recommended software and firmware versions:
- Shure Update Utility 2.8.6
- Shure Web Device Discovery 1.2.17
Important
- Please review the information below regarding upgrading to a more secure, encrypted https
- Protocol for network-based connection to our browser-based CUI will display a message stating "Your connection is not private" upon the first connection attempt. This is expected behavior and does NOT indicate any security risk. Quite the opposite is the case – once the steps below have been carried out after installing this F/W upgrade – the network communications to the CUI from a network-connected browser will be MORE secure due to the https encryption.
- Please proceed by following these steps:
- Click ADVANCED to get to the next pop-up window below.
- Select “Continue to [IP-address of the APXD2] (unsafe) to open the CUI in an encrypted browser window using the https protocol.
- In subsequent connections to the CUI, the IP address of the device to be connected to can be found in the Shure Update Utility. Please copy this address found in SUU into your browser address window and add “ https:// “ in front of it to open the CUI of your chosen device.
- You will now see the CUI with the “Not Secure“ warning next to the address field. Despite this warning, the connection to the APXD2 is now more secure compared to the previous http connection before the update.
- We are currently working on improving this workflow to become more intuitive again, but we depend on external agencies to process our https certification and make it available automatically.

Known Issues
- The app may crash when connecting or disconnecting Ethernet while the Event Log is open.
- Workaround: Close the Event Log before connecting or disconnecting hardwired Ethernet.
- When updating SLX-D receivers and transmitters at the same time, the update may fail on the first try.
- Workaround: Retry the update or update each device individually to successfully update the devices.
- Shure Update Utility will fail to discover on first connection an ADX5D on Mac M1 machines running macOS Monterey 12.
- Workaround: Update to macOS Ventura 13 or higher or restart your Mac computer and ADX5D will successfully be discovered.
- SUU fails to launch after installation on macOS Ventura 13 or macOS Sonoma 14.
- Workaround: Navigate to System Settings -> Privacy and Security, scroll down to SUU notification, click on Open Anyway, and enter the password.
- Device discovery is delayed by up to 20 seconds when the device network includes GLX-D+ receivers running version 2.0.17 or previous.
- Solution: Update to 2.0.18 version.
- ULX-D devices running versions prior to 1.4.8 must be updated to 1.4.8 first before updating to 2.0.28. After 2.0.28 is installed, ULX-D devices can be updated to the latest available firmware version. See ULX-D Firmware Update and Issues.
- ULX-D devices that are downgrading to 1.5.6 may report a false failure.
- Workaround: Because this is a false failure, closing the send updates window and going to the main page, Shure Update Utility will show green for the firmware version.
- Microflex Wireless devices running versions prior to 5.2.2 must be updated to 5.2.2 first before updating to a later firmware version.
Important
- In most cases, you should install the latest version of Shure Update Utility to update your devices. However, certain legacy devices require older versions of SUU or a different tool:
- Use Shure Update Utility 2.4.8 to update firmware on GLX-D, UHF-R, SHA900, and KSE1500 systems or for 32-bit support.
- Use Shure Update Utility 2.4.1 to update firmware on PSM1000 systems running firmware 1.1.0 or earlier.
- Use the MXC Firmware installer to update MXC products, including DIS-CCU.
- Use the DFR22 Software and a PC running Windows 8.1 or earlier to update a DFR22.
- Update MOTIV devices using the MOTIV apps (mobile and desktop) and AONIC devices the Play app.
- Update Stem devices using the Stem Upgrader software

Improvements
- Bug fixes and general improvements
Known Issues
- The optional ARRAY_HEIGHT_OVERRIDE value sent via command strings must be resent upon power cycle
- If the ARRAY_HEIGHT_OVERRIDE command is used to set a height that is outside the valid range (122-914 cm), the command will not display an error but internally, the value will be rejected from being set
- Acoustic reflections from tables can sometimes be mistaken by the MXA920 as another source/talker location. The symptom is a second talker location coordinate set in front of and higher than the actual talker.
- Workaround: Place Coverage Areas to minimize pick-up of table surface reflections
- Channel Names are not set in the initial attempt of ‘push-to-Dante’. Dante interface resets when Device Name is set.
- Workaround: Channel Names are set on the 2nd attempt
- MXA920 LED does not stay on after a reboot if the light settings are set to Unmute = Blue, Mute = Red. Other light combinations work as expected after reboot.
- When a muted dynamic coverage area is moved when a dedicated coverage area has also been established, the mix output of the MXA920 has low-level audio from outside the dedicated coverage area limits.
- Workaround: Unmute and Mute the dynamic coverage area after a dynamic coverage area is moved
Notes
- User Guide
- Command Strings
- Note that Talker Position Events are published for talkers in a coverage area regardless of the mute status of the coverage area. To fully inform camera switching decision logic, subscribe to the Coverage Area Mute Status. See https://pubs.shure.com/command-strings for further information
